Whangamata Wedding

Whangamata is a really special place to me. It’s where I was married, it’s the place I spend the most amount of time apart from my home and is full of beautiful memories. So when I get asked to photograph a Whangamata wedding I jump at the chance!

Amelia and Lachlan are pretty much the nicest two people you’ll ever meet. Lachy is an Intensive Care Paramedic and Amelia is an Occupational Therapist in mental health - safe to say these two are kind, caring souls. They chose to have a first look and do their bridal party photos before the ceremony which we did in a gorgeous little forest before we headed to the ceremony site overlooking the estuary. One memorable thing that stuck with me from this part of the day is that they had their wedding rings passed round their guests to be ‘warmed’ before the ceremony.

Post ceremony we headed to Amelia’s parents bach for drinks on the lawn before celebrating the evening under a clear marquee. In between all this we snuck down onto the beach at sunset to soak up some golden hour light.

I loved spending the day with Amelia, Lachlan and their family and friends, thank you all so much for having me. Your vows made me teary, your lost earring Amelia put my detective skills to the test, having a ride in your Grandad’s old Morris Minor Lachy was a real treat, the food was amazing and Amelia your brother’s break dancing made the dance floor!
