Maori Bay Engagement

muriwai-engagement.JPG

I met Catherine and James at Maori Bay, Muriwai for their engagement shoot. We were treated to an amazing sunset - my favourite golden tones against a rugged backdrop of cliffs and surf. What unfolded at the start of their shoot however was NOT expected.

With the tide most of the way out we decided to enter an open ended cave at one end of the beach where the water was ankle deep. We were in the cave for about 5min, me buzzing with excitement as I was getting some amazing shots, when out of nowhere a surge of water came towards us. Poor Catherine and James were wet up to their hips and I lost a camera to water damage that day! But the awesome thing is they were so chill and happy and not at all phased so we continued shooting till the sun set.

An adventure filled session with a lesson learnt - the sea is unpredictable especially at a beach like Muriwai. Please always be careful and cautious at rough surf beaches!
